I just discovered a HUGE life hack. I discovered how to be happy. This is crazy because I’m always happy. I find the joy in every little thing. But, before I always found that joy while working from sunup to sundown.
If you don’t know me, this is super important. I have two boys under two and a husband who works A LOT. The rest of my family lives 600 miles away. You need to understand that I work really hard on my business while managing my house and raising my boys.
Pro Tip* If you are a working mom, hire a mother’s helper, even if it’s just a friend. I have so many friends that come over every day to keep me sane while I work. This is not the hack, but it helped me discover it.
The hack is that I am the key to my own happiness. The hack is to do things for yourself. Go out and get yourself a treat. Step away from your business for a minute – live for yourself. Your life does not always have to be business.
When you do that, everything will flow for you just the way you need it. Your clients who message you at 7 pm don’t care if you message them back at 7:01, they just care that they hear back from you. Tomorrow morning is totally okay! Find time to unplug and do what makes you happy.
The second part of being happy is to be grateful for what you have. A few weeks ago, I had some girls over for coffee. I was so worried about what they would think of my house. I was worried the coffee wouldn’t be perfect. Who cares if coffee is perfect? It’s coffee! In the midst of all this worry and going crazy I stopped. I realized that it does not matter. I work too hard to worry about making my house and coffee perfect, and that is okay.
So, don’t hustle 24/7. This plays a huge part of your gratitude and happiness. Sit down with intention, and do your work with purpose. It doesn’t matter if you work from home, work in an office, or work as a stay at home mom, this applies to you.
Hustle is not a term for rush, and it does not mean all time. Put your work where you work is and then set it aside and go do something else. Work with intention and let it go when you are done. If you need help finding this peace join me in my group Simply Empowered Women.
